Riviera Syndication's record sales at Sanctuary Cove Boat Show

'Riviera’s sensational new 5800 Sport Yacht was a hit with Riviera Syndication owners. - 2009 Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show'
Riviera Syndication CEO John Russell has described the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show as 'our best boat show ever'.

'The sale of 15 shares through the shortened three-day show, including seven in the new Riviera 5800 Sport Yacht, makes this our best show result ever,' said Mr Russell. 'To achieve this in the current market indicates the acceptance of our syndication program and also that confidence is returning to the market.'

Riviera Syndication promotes the sale of new Rivieras by syndicated ownership and then provides an ongoing maintenance and management program. The company now have programs at Sanctuary Cove on the Gold Coast, Sydney, Hamilton Island and Perth with further destinations planned.

The Sanctuary Cove Show this year represented John and Sharon Russell's 10th anniversary selling boats by syndication.

'Two owners at our function on the Riviera stand on Saturday night have been with us for the entire 10 years,' said Mr Russell.

John and Sharon Russell, who pioneered Syndicated boat ownership in the late 1990s, said it is very rewarding to see clients who were initially skeptical about the idea of syndication become complete converts once they were educated in the process.

'We are giving a wide range of people the chance to enjoy the benefits of luxury boat ownership at a fraction of the normal cost and without the worry of maintenance and cleaning,' said Mr Russell.

Riviera Syndication has announced plans to open in Melbourne with an innovative program of a Riviera 4400 Sport Yacht to be based in Melbourne during the summer and moved to the Whitsundays during the winter.

'We also opened at Rushcutters Bay in Sydney in April this year, promoting the soon to be released Riviera 5000 Sport Yacht and the new 5800 and we have other exciting options available in the near future,' said Mr Russell.

RIVIERA SYNDICATIONS POSITION REGARDING RECEIVERS APPOINTED TO THE RIVIERA GROUP - May 2009

Riviera Syndication is an independently-owned company that sells and maintains shares in luxury boats in locations around Australia.

The owners of Riviera Syndication, John and Sharon Russell, have worked in the boating industry for more than 30 years and were founders of the luxury boat syndication business model in 1999.

The business is not affected by the appointment of Receivers to luxury boat builder Riviera on Friday, May 8, 2009. Riviera Syndication continues to serve its client base of more than 60 families and maintains healthy revenues and cash flow.

Riviera Syndication CEO John Russell said: "We were saddened by the news about Riviera and have assured our clients that Riviera Syndication continues to care for and maintain their boats in the first class condition for which we have an enviable reputation.

"We are encouraged to hear that the Receivers and Managers are looking to preserve the long-term viability of Riviera, to restructure the business and sell it as a going concern."

Riviera Syndication will have a strong presence at the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show, with two boats on display and a range of offerings for clients both in Queensland and in our new locations in Sydney and Perth.

                    "AMALFI" NOW AT HAMILTON ISLAND

Hamilton Island Riviera 45 is impressing. 2nd 45 on the way !

After nearly a year of planning, Riviera Syndication’s new Riviera 45 Fly Bridge “Amalfi” is in place at Hamilton Island Marina ready to delight its owners in the beauty and tranquility of the Whitsunday’s.
Following a combined launch party at Sanctuary Cove with Riviera Syndication’s new 4700 Sport Yacht, our 45 Fly Bridge “Amalfi” was prepared for her delivery trip north, despite the horrendous weather present in north Queensland.
Monday night 25th February saw Scott and Julia Moses join Riviera Syndications CEO John Russell, his son Nick and Riviera skipper Jimmy Thorn at Rivergate Marina in Brisbane for a preparation dinner onboard “Amalfi”
At first light on Tuesday morning, Amalfi cast off for a journey only our skipper had embarked on previously. On leaving the shelter of the Brisbane River our departure coincided with the arrival of the huge cruise ship “Queen Victoria”. What a sight she was. After photos we headed out past Redcliff toward Bribie Island, as the main shipping channel toward Moreton Island was looking decidedly rough.
Even with the overcast conditions the run up along the surf Beach of Bribie Island was impressive and we were all getting used to the motion of the open seas, not normally encountered in the protection of the Gold Coast Broadwater.
By Mooloolaba there were only one set of green gills (name withheld) and Julia had a white knuckle grip on the Flybridge table. In no time though, we were all getting used to the motion and the seaworthiness of the magnificent new Riviera 45 Flybridge.
Noosa and Fraser Island saw a continuation of uncomfortable seas but a growing confidence in the boat and the anticipation of the notorious Wide Bay Bar.
As a recommendation to anyone doing this trip for the first time, take an experienced skipper. Although I have done a lot of boating in my time, I have not done a voyage of this type and the reassurance and confidence in having an experienced skipper onboard is invaluable.
The Wide Bay Bar is best undertaken on a rising tide or at the top of the tide and our skipper Jimmy positioned us at the bar mouth half an hour before the top of the tide. The ride through the Bar was interesting but very safe, and then we were in “calm waters”.
It is always a nice feeling to be back in calm water and after a hose down of the aft deck we celebrated the completion of the first leg of our voyage with a cold Corona (all except the skipper).
I hadn’t been through the Sandy Straights between Fraser Island and the mainland for some years but it is a beautiful waterway with many cruising boats dotted along the way and great anchorages.
Urangan Boat Harbour at Hervey Bay was our first port of call for fuel and after a short while on land we headed off for Rooney’s Point on the northern tip of Fraser Island.
The water was crystal clear and we were protected from the wind so this was to be our first overnight anchorage of the trip.
After a swim and a shower the gourmet contingent of the crew emerged with Julia and Scott preparing a sumptuous BBQ. The night was completed with a combination of good wine, good food and great stories.
We awoke early to blue skies and  reasonable wind  and set course for Lady Elliott Island.
It is at this time that we realized the value of the Raymarine GPS/Plotter and the Raymarine Autohelm fitted to Amalfi. I recalled the internal debate about costs that I had with myself at the time of purchase. I now had a good appreciation of the real use of these precision instruments having used them in “basic mode” around Moreton Island for years.
Lady Elliott was very pretty in the near perfect conditions but, we decided to push on to Lady Musgrave Island for its well earned reputation for snorkeling.
A short time later, we pulled into the protected anchorage of Lady Musgrave and went ashore for a swim and some snorkeling. What a beautiful place, clear water, great coral, copious fish and a lovely island.
A course was then set for Keppel Island and an enjoyable trip past numerous islands was had. We reached the shelter of Keppel Bay Marina at Yeppoon about 5pm on Wednesday evening and after a wash down and a cooling ale, we caught up with the Marina owners and developers Richard and Libby Wilson who had shown me sensational hospitality when I visited them last year to discuss a Riviera Syndication franchise. We dined at the marina restaurant along with many other cruising boaties and had a very enjoyable night.
Morning exercise the next day was a walk /jog up to the peak at the entrance to the harbour which presented magnificent views of the harbour entrance and surrounds. A weather briefing from Richard, a quick refueling and we headed further up the Capricorn Coast.
This area runs from Yeppoon north and has some of the best beaches, bays, harbours and anchorages you can imagine. We stayed close to the coast and pulled into some of the bays one of which was Port Clinton. This is an area that definitely needs more exploration and an area that will be easily accessible from the Riviera Syndication franchise at Keppel Bay Marina.
To sea again toward the Duke Islands which had been recommended to us as an overnight anchorage. This is yet another sensational area where you could quite easily stay for a week. Scott and Julia had investigated the island accommodation previously and the entire island can be rented out. The decision was made to continue on to the Percy Group for the overnight anchorage but rising seas saw us turn to port and run with the sea at 27 – 28 knots to reach Keswick Island just on nightfall.
Another great night with good wine and Julia’s cooking settled us in for another comfortable night onboard. 5am saw us up and contemplating the 2 hour journey to Hamilton Island in 35 knot conditions which Jimmy described as “slightly scary”.
Running before the wind and positioning the boat into the rain squalls provided a reasonable ride and just on 8am on Friday morning 28th we pulled into our prearranged berth at Hamilton Island Marina.
It is always a nice feeling arriving safely in port but it didn’t take anybody long to start dreading getting off Amalfi and heading for home.
Amalfi proved to be a very comfortable and safe home for a week. With the essential ingredients of good company, great food and wine and the world renowned cruising grounds of the Whitsunday’s, Amalfi is perfectly positioned to provide her owners and friends with many memorable boating experiences.
